Booker Shortlist is OUT

What do we think? I haven't read any of them. I felt it was too unrealistic for me to tackle the longlist. But I'm going to have a fair crack at the shortlist!! Beginning with Room. Who do you think will win this year?

I hoped to read all thirteen longlisted books by today, but I only managed six. Of the three I've read on the shortlist (Room, Long Song & In a Strange Room), I enjoyed all three. Room is far and away my favorite, and I truly hope it wins. I'm looking forward to reading the other three too. Enjoy!

I'm not sure what to think, as like you, I haven't read any of them! I am thinking I have heard a ton of raves about Room though so maybe that one? Although on cover lust alone I would pick the Long Song ;)

I have read the Peter Carey and really enjoyed it (which surprised me because I am not usually a Carey fan). I have started Room this afternoon - it is a book I have so been looking forward to reading but I have to say it isn't grabbing me at the moment - hope that changes!!

From what I've read (including above comments, thank you lovely readers) Room is the most popular. And the 5 pages I've read I've enjoyed. I'm interested to hear that you like the Peter Carey, Karen, I haven't read a lot of positive things!! But I intend to get there!!

Like 'The Little Stranger' 'The Long Song' seems to be making a go for most nominations, least wins. Maybe this time I'll be encouraged to read it.

I've heard a ton about Room but haven't heard about any of the overs. They all have such lovely covers though!
